CommentsontheHistoricalStaqtusofTibetexpoundsuponthecloserelationsbetweentheregionfoTibetandancientChinamakinguseofrichandaccuratehistoricalmaterials,especiallythoseshowingthatTiberhasbeenapartofChineseterritorysincetheYuanDynasty(1271-1368).Itforcefullydeniestheentireideologicalsystemof"Tibetanindependence"and,forthefirsttime,systematicallyanswersthetheoriesputforwardbytheDalaiclique.TheChineseeditionofthisworkhasattractedgreatattentioninChinaandwasgrantedthe1996ExcellentBookAwardinChina.
